What are the requirements to apply for an ESTA?

Citizens of 41 eligible countries can apply for travel authorization through the Visa Waiver Program by completing an ESTA application. To qualify, travelers must possess a biometric passport with a microchip, indicated by the relevant symbol on the cover. This program allows visitors to stay in the U.S. for up to 90 days for purposes such as tourism, business, transit, medical treatment, or short non-credit study courses.

It’s advised to complete the ESTA application before booking flights or accommodations, as some cases may require a full visa instead. Once approved, you can update your ESTA application with your final travel details before your departure.
